New Car engine piston is to withstand the combustion pressure in the cylinder and transmit this force to the crankshaft through the piston pin and connecting rod.
1. Sealing: refers to sealing the gas, preventing the gas in the combustion chamber from leaking into the crankcase, keeping the gas leakage to a minimum, and improving thermal efficiency. Leakage will not only reduce the power of the New Car engine, but also deteriorate the engine oil. This is the main task of the gas ring;
2. Adjusting the engine oil (oil control): scraping off the excess lubricating oil on the cylinder wall, while making a thin oil film on the cylinder wall to ensure the normal lubrication of the cylinder, piston and ring. This is the main task of the oil ring. In modern high-speed engines, special attention is paid to the role of the piston ring in controlling the oil film;
3. Heat conduction: The heat of the
Fuel Car piston is transferred to the cylinder liner through the piston ring, which plays a cooling role. 70-80% of the heat received by the piston top in a non-cooled piston is dissipated by the piston ring to the cylinder wall, while 30-40% of the heat received by the cooled piston is dissipated by the piston ring to the cylinder wall;
4. Support: The piston ring keeps the piston in the cylinder, preventing the piston from directly contacting the cylinder wall, ensuring smooth movement of the piston, reducing friction resistance, and preventing the piston from knocking. Generally, the piston of a Fuel Car engine uses two air rings and one oil ring, while the diesel engine usually uses two air rings and one oil ring.
